The Role

ROLE SUMMARY

We are looking for a Director of Analytics Project Management (APM), leading a portfolio of priority initiatives. Reporting to the APM Capabilities Lead, this person will be responsible for leading the Agile processes that structure our delivery and prioritization process across priority Commercial Analytics projects. You will be a part of the Commercial Analytics organization supporting brands or therapeutic area's technical project management needs for analytics capability and data product delivery. You will partner with brand-aligned analytics teams, data scientists, data engineers, and market researchers to understand their challenges, work through their issues and track activities under various initiatives.
The ideal candidate is someone with a proven program management track record, sound technical knowledge, skills in delivering complex data & analytics capabilities and running projects under bold timelines. We are looking for someone to take charge and be responsible for managing ambiguity and paving the way for the teams you engage. You communicate responsibilities and scope clearly while valuing integrity, and always maintaining an open mind. You can handle pressure, protect people's time, and have the intellectual curiosity to constantly learn, unlearn, and re-learn.

RESPONSIBILITIES
You will create and deliver program roadmaps for analytics products and projects by partnering with brand-aligned analytics teams, Data Science, Data Engineering, Market research, and other partner teams such as Sales, Marketing, Operations and Finance. You will initiate programs by establishing and documenting the vision, scope, and timelines. You will also handle communication to stakeholders, teams, and cross-functional partners and proactively identify and manage risks and dependencies. You will manage the development team's backlog to meet the program expectations and offer data and planning expertise for working through prioritization challenges.
APM's must demonstrate business sense, communicate clearly with business leaders, and bring structure and clarity to uncertain situations with competing priorities. Most importantly, the best APM's are amazing teammates, effective and considerate leaders, and champions of an empowering and inclusive team culture. Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop plans for large scale initiatives in close collaboration with large matrixed teams
  • Serve as advisor to key leaders across a variety of teams to develop strategy and support current and future initiatives
  • Lead regular executive communication with teammates, partners, and leadership and conduct periodic reviews with executive sponsors
  • Promote innovation and take risks to challenge status quo through identifying new business opportunities and developing solutions that balance impact, cost, resourcing, timeline, success likelihood, and risk
  • Proactively identify data-driven areas of waste and propose optimization strategies
  • Demonstrate foresight and judgement in complex decisions and troubleshoot ambiguous situations to provide clarity for cross functional teams
  • Lead the Jira-based Agile prioritization process and manage workload and team performance across complex portfolio of projects
  • Execute day-to-day project management activities across portfolio of projects including coordinating activities between internal teams and partners, tracking progress towards achievements, continuously anticipating changes to plans, and keeping teams and leadership updated on status


QUALIFICATIONS

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering or similar related field required; MS or MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, demonstrating career progression through levels of responsibility leading projects within analytics, data engineering or other related settings
  • Life sciences industry experience with understanding of commercial processes and data
  • PMP, PRINCE2, PMI-ACP, CSM, SAFe certified or equivalent required; must have a proven track record of setting up and leading complex, data-oriented capabilities
  • Experience leading cross functional teams in a dynamic, results-driven environment to drive innovation
  • Mastery of complex business, engineering, and analytic issues with proven ability to provide in-depth evaluations of underlying causes and potential solutions that lead to action
  • Experience in building roadmaps based on managing trade-offs and data-driven prioritization across portfolio of projects
  • Creative problem solver with an excellent ability to influence without authority across all organizational levels
  • Solid senseof ownership, customer service, collaboration, and integrity
  • Ability to manage conflicting ideas, concepts, and creating an environment to ensure all voices are heard, and to own the hard calls
  • Ability to work outside own area of expertise, perform business discovery, simplify problems, extract key information, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Inquisitiveness and a desire for continued self-improvement and development of new skills
  • Data science & machine learning, management consulting, or other relevant product management experience a plus

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
