The Role

Role Summary
The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at Pfizer, will be a results-oriented and forward-thinking leader who can establish themselves as a credible strategic partner. Reporting to the Vice President, Diversity Equity and Inclusion, they will collaborate closely with People Experience (Px) and business leaders to plan and implement a strategy and initiatives that result in measurable progress with impact. They have diplomatically challenged mindsets and inspired new points of view to have a positive impact on an organization.
Key Responsibilities
The Director of DEI will support the Commercial organization in the creation and execution of the Commercial DEI strategy in alignment with the Pfizer Enterprise DEI strategy and vision. Be a strategic partner to Px and business leaders, providing subject matter expertise and support to embed DEI principles into business strategies, practices, and decision-making processes.
DEI Strategy:

  • Partner with Commercial Px and business leaders, to define and execute a comprehensive DEI strategy aligned with the overall Commercial business goals.
  • Assess the current state and identify opportunities and initiatives that will integrate DEI into the business and enhance the capabilities of leadership and colleagues.
  • Drive the development of best-in-class DEI strategic action plans and the implementation of measurable goals and initiatives to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion across the organization.


Business Partnership:

  • Collaborate with Px partners to ensure that DEI objectives are integrated into talent acquisition, development, retention, and succession planning efforts.
  • Consult with leaders on fostering an inclusive culture, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing strategies and solutions.


DEI Education and Development:

  • Deliver "field-ready" solutions, that serve to execute our strategy and plans; strong focus on tools, resources and practices that build DEI capability, strengthen representation and foster inclusion.
  • Provide guidance and support to business leaders in implementing inclusive practices, mitigating bias, and promoting cultural competency.
  • Recognize and respond to regional needs by providing tailored strategies and solutions to enable appropriate cultural awareness and change.


Metrics and Analytics:

  • Regularly report on key DEI metrics to senior leadership and other stakeholders, providing insights, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Engage in the identification of diversity best practices and benchmarks as input to designing and implementing initiatives.


External Partnerships and Engagement:

  • Represent Pfizer externally in industry forums, conferences, and networks focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Build relationships with external organizations and community partners to enhance Pfizer's diversity and inclusion initiatives and promote Pfizer as an employer of choice.


Required / Minimum Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in HR, Diversity and Inclusion, or related areas, with a deep understanding of principles; best practices; knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations and strong focus on driving DEI strategies in large and complex organizations.
  • 4+ years' experience leading large complex projects/programs from conceptualization to implementation. Proven experience partnering with senior business leaders and driving change within a matrixed organizational structure.
  • Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact.

  • Demonstrates superb cross-cultural skills with proven ability to successfully approach, build trust, listen, and negotiate across multiple cultures, markets, and community/business colleagues and leaders.
  • Highly effective communicator and strategic thinker with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex ideas, unique concepts, and proposals to enroll team, peers, and management
  • Experience and credibility as a leader in an environment where the ability to influence, work across divisions and build relationships is critical
  • Ability to influence others without direct authority and work effectively across multiple teams to achieve solutions to meet organization's objectives, and is proactive in providing solutions, resolving issues and overcoming hurdles to results.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead and execute multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Analytical mindset, with the ability to leverage data and metrics to drive insights and inform decision-making. With the skills and experience in analyzing and diagnosing business problems to identify root causes.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Certification.
  • Change Management Certification & Practitioner.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $149,200.00 to $248,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 20.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
