The Director, Data Management -North America is a member of the Data Management (DM) Leadership Team (LT) and has E2E responsibility to understand data management needs of the region, formulate, and deliver necessary transformations and ensure quality of data operations. and deliver Master Data services to the business.
Importantly, this person would be a "trusted advisor" and representative of the Data Management LT into the region. Accountability of building the collaboration with MDS and BU leadership to adopt digital enabled processes and solution pertaining to Master data, providing the necessary support, leadership, and resources to test, validate and implement local and global projects and continuous improvements initiatives.
The role will work closely with business leaders, to understand business process and operational gaps due to master data; develop cross-functional alignment to define master data processes, digital models, and capabilities, standardize data sets and sources to manage, govern and consume master data in the region and across markets.
*** Ideal candidate would be able to work out of East Hanover, New Jersey office 2-3 days a week in hybrid setting.
Job Responsibilities

  • Deliver MD operational service into the region ambitioning the vision: First Time Right, All the Time Right, to boost regional growth objectives.
  • Controls costs by ensuring transparency of cost to serve and total cost of ownership as new services are implemented.
  • Work in close partnership with the Region and BU MDS Leads to deliver the digital priorities for the region/ BU, while balancing the Global Data Management Function strategy.
  • Understand, anticipate, and plan for the data management capability requirements in the region, and ways to best deliver within the context of the region.
  • Bring fresh perspective and new age thinking pertaining to the Function to trigger deeper awareness and innovation within the region.
  • Establish and implement master data management capabilities and best practices processes aligned with the Region digital transformation, data goals and priorities.
  • Build effective engagement and relationship among MDS and BU Leaders and their teams, data stewards and SME to understand the master data needs, dependencies and identify opportunities for business process optimization and standardization.
  • Ensure the adherence to MD policies, processes, standards controls and operating procedures in partnership with Data Management Global Governance team and BU Data Stewards to uphold data integrity, quality and one single source of truth for master data.
  • Provide project leadership and direction on new projects and initiatives impacting Master Data operations while maintaining a high-quality level of service, ensuring appropriate resource allocations and risk assessments.
  • Partner with key stakeholders to align on priorities, ensure regional and markets business requirements for Master Data are clearly defined, well documented, communicated and understood.
  • Govern the data operations framework across ownership, process documentation, service levels, data quality, performance management, and continuous improvement efforts
  • As a part of a defined data quality process, monitor that processes and data are following standards, detect and investigate deviations, and address operations outages.
  • Lead, develop, and retain talent through development, coaching, and engagement. Provide mentorship, direction, development planning, and performance feedback.
  • Understand industry trends and solutions. Benchmark master data processes, practices, and quality both internally and externally.


Candidate Profile
Dynamic, business savvy and commercially oriented master data professional with a strong track record in leading data management operations and service delivery throughout digitally enabled global processes and solutions, operating them effectively at regional level in a multi-national and multi-functional business environment. This role will need to be familiar with Master Data landscape and relevant domains for FMCG industry. and operating in a BPO environment leveraging internal and external skills and capabilities to lead master data operations and engage effectively business data owners and teams accountable for master data ownership and data quality.
Knowledge, Experience and Education

  • 10+years of professional experience in business processes operations, with relevant experience in Master Data Management & process transformation, ideally in the consumer goods industry
  • 5+years in master data roles in large global/regional teams including leadership and accountability to lead and develop direct teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Business Administration, Computer Science, Industrial Engineering or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Master Data operations & how master data are leveraged to create business outcomes.
  • Proven experience partnering with RDQ/Supply Chain /Finance/Commercial teams in delivering internally master data services and externally digital product data to customers across most demanding markets.
  • Direct Business experience in functional areas within Finance, Supply Chain, Sales, or related commercial functions is a plus.
  • Familiar operating in large and complex multi-national organizations to create alignment for her/his strategic priorities across a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in working across functions with ability to interact effectively with and be credible with Senior leadership.
  • Experience in SAP MDG, PIM solutions and/or other product data solutions.
  • DAMA certifications and SAP S/4 knowledge is a plus.

Other Position Parameters

  • This role reports to the VP Data Management & MEU and is a member of the MDS Extended Leadership Team and Regional MDS Leadership Team acting a deputy in the region for the Data Management team.


Direct/Indirect Reports &Travel

  • This role will have six direct and 15 indirect reports. Staff will be located out of East Hanover, New Jersey and Wilkes-Barre, PA. offices, and there will be an expectation of travel to both offices.
