About Zocks
Zocks is transforming how financial advisors serve their clients. The advisory industry runs on relationships, but for too long advisors have been buried in the administrative work that surrounds those relationships. We are changing that. Our AI platform handles the operational layer of the advisor's practice so they can focus entirely on their clients, and the result is better advice, deeper relationships, and stronger business outcomes for the firms that trust us. We are backed by Lightspeed, QED, and Motive Partners, trusted by more than 2,000 advisory firms, and growing fast.

Why We're Hiring for This Role

Zocks is growing rapidly, and we are building the finance function to match the scale and ambition of the business. The Controller will own the accounting function end to end and will be responsible for building the infrastructure that grows with the company. We are looking for someone who brings both the technical depth this role demands and a genuine interest in what modern tooling and AI mean for the future of accounting. If that combination excites you, this is an unusual opportunity at a defining moment in our growth. We will be accepting applications until June 30th, 2026.

What You'll Do

  • Own the close. Drive accurate, timely monthly and quarterly close, and maintain the integrity of the company's books and records in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Scale the accounting function. You will be responsible for building and scaling the accounting function, with a strong bias toward AI-native tooling and automated workflows.
  • Financial reporting. Prepare internal financial statements, management reporting packages, and other reporting deliverables for finance and company leadership
  • Technical accounting. Serve as the in-house authority on ASC 606, ASC 718, consolidations, and other complex accounting areas relevant to a high-growth SaaS business.
  • Audit. Own the financial statement audit process end to end, including preparation of supporting documentation, technical memos, and day-to-day auditor management.
  • Tax and compliance. Manage sales tax, multistate and international registrations, and multi-jurisdiction compliance. Coordinate with external advisors on income tax across entities.
  • Treasury. Own cash management, bank relationships, and cash reporting.
  • Internal controls. Build and maintain a scalable internal control environment and establish documentation standards appropriate to a high-growth, rapidly evolving company.
  • Multi-entity consolidation. Own financial consolidation across multiple legal entities and currencies, including intercompany eliminations and foreign exchange accounting.

What We're Looking For

  • CPA with Big Four audit experience strongly preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, with meaningful time in a controller or senior accounting leadership role at a venture-backed SaaS company.
  • Experience thriving in a fast-growth startup environment, with a demonstrated ability to bring structure and process to a rapidly scaling business.
  • Experience owning the company-side audit process. Having led a company's first financial statement audit is a strong plus.
  • Experience managing sales tax compliance and multistate SaaS obligations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to both finance and company leadership.
  • Multi-entity, multi-currency consolidation experience, including international subsidiaries.

What Sets You Apart

  • Hands-on experience with AI-native accounting and finance platforms such as Rillet, Campfire, Numeric, Abacum, Tabs, or comparable tools. Demonstrated (or exploratory) use of AI in day-to-day accounting workflows.
  • ERP implementation experience, including hands-on involvement in system configuration and go-live.
  • A track record of building accounting infrastructure with an eye toward what the business will need at the next stage of scale, not just what it needs today.
