The Role

About Your Role

The Health Group is seeking a Commerce News & Deals Editor to write, assign, and edit parenting content about product news, deals, and sales events for Parents. The ideal candidate should have past editing and commerce experience, be a creative and quick problem solver, and have a passion for parenting, baby, and lifestyle products.

As the news & deals editor, you will be responsible for collaborating with the Associate Editorial Director and Commerce Group Director to plan and create timely parenting shopping content and managing relationships with freelance writers. You will also assist with planning and executing coverage for large scale events such as Prime Day, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday. This job requires both analytical and editorial skills to ensure our news/deals commerce content is accurate, inclusive, comprehensive, and accessible to all readers.

About Your Contributions:

  • Assign, edit, and publish stories with help from freelance writers

  • Work with the Associate Editorial Director and Commerce Group Director to manage an editorial calendar and track assignments, ensuring articles move along on time, while also identifying stories and needs based on seasonality, trends, bestsellers, product reviews, and more

  • Stay current on trends and new products, maintaining close contact with public relations agencies

  • Utilize our team’s analytics tools, as well as resources like Google Trends, Instagram, TikTok, etc. to come up with the next big content ideas

  • Manage freelance writer relationships, which includes onboarding freelancers, fielding pitches, assigning stories, editing content, and handling invoices

  • Assist in our testing process, whether evaluating products at home or attending lab testing days

  • Use SEO tools and knowledge of brands to come up with the next big content ideas

  • Attend team meetings


About You:

  • 3-4 years of experience writing and editing in the parenting and lifestyle space (preferably for a digital consumer brand), including at least 1 year of experience editing freelance writers

  • A product enthusiast who spends time shopping and obsessing over purchases

  • Detail-oriented and deadline-focused with solid editing skills, as well as a deep understanding of commerce, SEO, and news content

  • Comfortable with content management systems and workflow systems

  • Strong communication, organizational, and project management skills, including proficiency in management tools like Google Suite and Airtable

  • Ability to see the big picture

  • Self-starter who wants to work for a growing company

  • Experience with developing and producing videos for social media a plus

  • College degree required

In-office Expectations: This position is hybrid in-office, with the ability to work remotely for up to 2 days per week.
