Paxos is building the open financial system.
The Role

About Paxos

Today’s financial infrastructure is archaic, expensive, inefficient and risky — supporting a system that leaves out more people than it lets in. So we’re rebuilding it.

We’re on a mission to open the world’s financial system to everyone by enabling the instant movement of any asset, any time, in a trustworthy way. For over a decade, we’ve built blockchain infrastructure that tokenizes, custodies, trades and settles assets for the world’s leading financial institutions, like PayPal, Venmo, Mastercard and Interactive Brokers.

About the team

We are committed to driving sustainable growth while ensuring full compliance with all regulatory requirements. As we scale, we seek a dynamic and experienced Chief Compliance and Risk Officer to lead our compliance and risk management functions, ensuring we navigate the complexities of our industry with integrity and foresight.

About the role

Are you ready to be at the forefront of a financial revolution? Join our dynamic and rapidly growing blockchain infrastructure company where you’ll play a pivotal role in re-platforming the global financial system. As a key leader reporting into our Global General Counsel, you'll have the unique opportunity to lead and shape our compliance and enterprise risk function, ensuring that we navigate the complex landscape of financial regulations and innovate with confidence.

In this role, you won’t just be managing compliance and risks; you’ll be a vital architect of our strategic vision, helping to build a more secure and efficient financial ecosystem. You will work alongside visionary leaders and passionate teams dedicated to pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in fintech and blockchain technology.

What you'll do

  • Craft Pioneering Compliance Policies: You'll design and implement cutting-edge AML, sanctions, and consumer protection compliance policies tailored specifically for the unique and evolving challenges within the blockchain and fintech sectors. Your innovative approach will set industry standards and ensure robust regulatory adherence.
  • Navigate Financial Risks: Lead the charge in identifying, assessing, and mitigating financial risks inherent in the blockchain and fintech spaces. Your strategic foresight will safeguard our operations, enabling us to thrive amidst uncertainty and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Spearhead Risk Management: Take the helm of our enterprise risk function, designing and implementing comprehensive risk management frameworks that address the complexities of blockchain and fintech operations. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving our strategic risk initiatives.
  • Cultivate a Compliance Culture: Foster a culture of compliance across the organization by providing expert guidance and mentorship to team members. Your leadership will inspire a proactive approach to risk management and regulatory adherence, ensuring our team remains vigilant and informed.
  • Lead High-Performance Teams: Lead and nurture a high-performing compliance and risk management team within our fast-paced, high-growth environment. Your ability to inspire and manage top talent will be crucial to our continued success and innovation
  • Collaborate and Influence: Work closely with executive and business leaders, leveraging your expertise to influence decision-making processes. Thrive in ambiguity by leading the way in finding solutions and making informed decisions that align with our strategic goals.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Law, Business Administration, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Extensive experience in compliance and enterprise risk management within the blockchain and/or fintech sectors.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to build and scale high-performing teams.
  • In-depth knowledge of global financial compliance regulations (AML, KYC, CTF, GDPR) and best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to use data to inform decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a high degree of ambiguity in a nascent industry.
