The Role

Overview

Binomial Real Estate supports Blackstone's residential mortgage portfolio business. Binomial manages a portfolio of business-purpose loans and reperforming loans (RPL's), providing critical asset due diligence and vendor oversight. Binomial, a remote-first company, has its corporate headquarters located in New York, NY with employees located in each time zone.

The Loan Servicing Oversight team's primary responsibility is supporting the Blackstone residential mortgage business by managing the following components: loan level reviews, delinquent loan monitoring and resolution, loan administration and loan boarding. The AVP's role will support each of these functions under the guidance of the SVP of Loan Servicing Oversight. This position will interact directly with the trading desk, internal business groups, and external vendors.
Responsibilities

  • Monitor established mortgage servicing service level agreements, including producing monthly scorecards to track vendor performance.
  • Review servicing complaints to assess whether the vendor addressed them appropriately based on established vendor processes.
  • Perform assessments (testing) related to critical functions/areas within servicing, including Loan Administration (cash management, escrow administration, etc.), Default Management (Collections, Loss Mitigation, etc.), and Investor Accounting.
  • Provide reporting to management based on the results of assessments performed.
  • Assist and complete MERS reconciliation, as required.
  • Manage servicing issues identified by business assessments, in addition to issues identified by business partners (Operational Risk, Compliance, Credit/QC).
  • Work with internal business partners to address loan level/escalated issues as needed.
  • Participate in calls with business partners and vendors and prepare reporting as required based on information gathered on calls.
  • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of all required vendor reporting, in addition to ensuring that reports are maintained.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects as needed and assist management with requests related to servicing oversight


Qualifications

Binomial Real Estate seeks to hire individuals who are motivated, experienced in the subject matter area, and are detail oriented while working within hard deadlines mandated by regulation, and are self-sufficient in a remote work environment. The successful candidate should have:

  • Minimum seven (7) years of Servicing Oversight experience.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience in business purpose residential mortgages (i.e., bridge/fix and flip loans, single-family rental loans) and Non-QM/Jumbo mortgages.
  • The ideal candidate will also have experience in servicing/asset management of residential mortgage loans.
  • Solid and detailed knowledge of residential mortgage underwriting and servicing guidelines.
  • Must have a working knowledge of mortgage documents and an understanding of the mortgage life cycle.
  • Robust computer data and presentation skills and significant experience with both Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Residential mortgage credit and underwriting experience and knowledge.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, along with attention to details.
  • Experience in the management of relationships with external vendors.

As of the date on which this job advertisement is posted, Binomial anticipates that the base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $110,000 (this represents the presently-anticipated low and high end of the Company's base salary range for this position). Total direct compensation may also include discretionary bonus and/or incentive compensation. Actual base salary range may vary based on various factors, including but not limited to location and experience.
