The Position:

The Associate Director of Business Development will play a key role in driving the growth and expansion of GameChanger’s business through unique long term revenue-generating, layered partnerships. This position requires a strategic “big picture” thinker with a flexible mindset who has a proven track record of ideating and negotiating complex deal terms and partnership structures that incorporate mutually beneficial revenue, marketing, brand and other key cross-departmental components. The Associate Director of Business Development will work closely with the Head of Business Development to identify net-new business opportunities, forge strategic internal & external relationships, negotiate partnerships and drive revenue growth.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner Scoping & Vetting

    • Identify, prospect, scope and succinctly present business opportunities to internal stakeholders that diversify revenue while adding value to holistic GameChanger goals & objectives

    • Lead outreach and conversations to manage the end-to-end vetting process

  • Proposal & Vision Development

    • Prepare and present compelling case-by-case proposals and presentations to prospective partners

    • Customize proposed solutions and ways of working to meet specific partner and internal departmental needs

  • Deal Structures/Negotiation

    • Bring a clear point-of-view and suggested approach to each partnership exploration

    • Be prepared to think strategically and differentiate deal terms by partner, components and structure/type

  • Relationship Management & Collaboration

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal, cross-company and external stakeholders. Ensure high-levels of transparency and communication with a keen ability to tailor messaging to appropriate audiences.

    • Work closely with the Business Development team and other departments (e.g. Go-to-Market, Brand, Data, Product, Engineering, Corporate Development/Finance, etc.) to consistently align Business Development efforts with company-wide goals and strategies.

    • Foster a culture of transparency and continuous learning within the Business Development team and across the organization

  • Data, Reporting & Legal Processing

    • Develop and maintain robust data analysis and reporting systems to track the success of partnerships and inform strategic decisions.

    • Use data-driven insights to identify opportunities, optimize current partnerships, and guide future partnership strategies.

    • Manage the Legal Process for assigned partnership deals

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven ability to think strategically and a willingness to innovate as it pertains to Business Development deal structures and various ways of working

  • Experience successfully managing internal and external relationships to communicate opportunities, define objectives, facilitate feedback and align on success metrics to move deals forward

  • A passion for organization and clear (written & verbal) communication, ensuring concise conveyance of strategies, insights, and partnership details both internally and externally

  • Strong, confident negotiation skills

  • Analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data for decision-making — knowing which questions to ask specific to each partnership conversation

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Comfort with working in a fast-pace, constantly evolving environment

Who You Are:

  • BS or BA in Business or a related discipline

  • 5-7 years of professional experience, ideally with experience in Business Development or Partnerships

  • Deep knowledge of complex deal terms, contract development and negotiation, go-to-market strategies, and understanding of key business and revenue-specific drivers.

  • Capable and persuasive communicator both internally & externally who can make arguments clearly and succinctly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to form deep bonds with internal stakeholders through deeply understanding their work streams and individual priorities.

  • Track-record of using data to develop business cases & review performance.

  • Top-notch presentation skills: storytelling, setting frame of reference (context) and clearly communicating point of difference and value proposition.

  • Experience in Youth/High School Sports Market, Media, Tech or Sports Industry (preferred not required)

The target salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $160,000. This is part of a total compensation package that includes incentive, equity, and benefits for eligible roles. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by several factors including experience, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We constantly review all teammate pay to ensure a great compensation package that is fair and equal across the board.
