The Assistant Director, Digital Initiatives is responsible for implementing data-driven solutions to optimize AJC's MarTech stack, handling performance marketing reporting, overseeing website updates and maintenance, and overseeing the digital support team, which supports AJC email and web operations. This position will also work closely with internal stakeholders on the vetting, implementation, and management of marketing-related aspects of current and future email marketing, marketing automation, and engagement systems.
The Assistant Director, Digital Initiatives does all this while adhering to AJC’s core values: Respect, Teamwork, Integrity, Excellence, and Accountability.
Major Functions:
- Oversee and manage the operations of AJC’s digital marketing support mechanism, and marketing technology
- Work closely with IT to evaluate and oversee the agency’s use of email marketing and engagement platforms
- Partner with IT, graphics, and additional internal stakeholders to execute and optimize automated workflows that meet AJC’s business goals and objectives
- Oversee analytics initiatives in order to determine best practices for the agency
- Supervise AJC’s Digital Marketing Manager, and team of consultants tasked with day-to-day website and email management
- Work closely with AJC’s team of technology vendors
Specific Responsibilities:
Email and Marketing Automation Management
- Oversee AJC’s national email schedule, and serve as thought leader in send time best practices
- Serve as a strategic partner with IT in the management of AJC’s email marketing platform, and the evaluation of future automation platforms
- Work closely with IT and email marketing vendor on organizational email deliverability initiatives
- When necessary, provide hands-on support for high priority custom HTML email builds and sends, including after hours
- Oversee and implement strategies around necessary UTM coding and append strings
Website and Engagement Platform Maintenance
- Oversee Digital Marketing Manager, as well as a team of consultants who deliver day-to-day website and email support for AJC and, in particular, its 24 Regional Offices across the United States
- Oversee analytic infrastructure to ensure optimal data collection, e.g. implementation of necessary tracking codes, pixels, etc.
- Oversee management, training, and necessary user manuals for AJC staff on web tools and techniques
- Work with the graphics department on creating and manipulating graphics and rendering images for web platforms that are mobile-friendly and multi-platform ready
- Troubleshoot for any website issues, including after hours
- Work with Director, Digital Innovation and Managing Director, Digital Communications and Content Marketing on overseeing AJC’s SEO goals
- When necessary, provide hands-on support for editing and posting web content, particularly relating to high priority campaigns that require custom coded microsites
- When necessary, update the front-end design of AJC’s forms in HTML/CSS
Qualifications:
- Extensive experience working in HTML and CSS, Javascript a plus
- At least 3-5 years of experience working in an email marketing platform, must have experience custom coding HTML emails
- At least 3-5 years of experience maintaining a CMS, Drupal a plus
- Experience working in Google Analytics
- Strong analytical skills; with a passion for finding the story in the data
- Strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks at once
- Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
- Comfort translating complicated technical details for non-technical stakeholders
- Familiarity with A/B testing, SEO, and UX design
- Experience managing one or more direct reports
- Experience working with external vendors
- Fluent in the English Language
