At Adyen, complex problems are never solved alone. “Everyone genuinely wants to help each other solve challenges,” Angel Bravo, an engineer manager, said. “I have been here for six years and at no moment have I been unable to reach out and ask for help.” According to Workplace Experience Team Lead Brittany Sipp, Adyen walks the walk when it comes to building an open, solutions-oriented company culture. “I feel empowered and free to move with authenticity,” Sipp said. “Adyen supports my expertise and ability to perform in my role without a doubt, and being trusted is paramount.”

Expectation vs. Reality
There’s no such thing as a typical day
People expect engineers to spend 40 hours a week coding on their computers. But the reality at Adyen is much different — their time is mostly spent discussing ideas or tech that can be applied to current problems. “When you have talented engineers, everyone has an opinion on how to solve problems,” Bravo said. “But this ensures we sharpen our ideas to provide the best product.” Bravo’s team typically partners with a launch customer so they can receive immediate feedback on a product. “We are not a company that will have kick-off meetings or more meetings to get the perfect product out there.”

Collaboration comes to life
Ines Visinet
Vice President, Marketing
Teamwork is a core value at Adyen. It's a priority for Visinet, who includes her team in planning and decision-making. “It’s important for me to share strategic insight with my team and to bring our work back to the big picture,” Visinet said. The marketing team works cross-functionally, and they organize brainstorming sessions, co-build a marketing roadmap and analyze results as a group. As a leader, Visinet encourages a strong feedback culture so they can celebrate success and identify ways to grow. It’s part of her effort to empower and coach her team on their growth, potential and skills.
People have a sharp impact on their role and are trusted to build their own path. Seeing someone thriving and growing in their career brings me a lot of joy.
