Most professionals want to find a job that offers new skills, knowledge-building and clear pathways for career development. According to Gallup research on employee well-being, nine out of ten millennials say professional development opportunities are “very important” on the job, and a lack of career growth is the number one reason people search for a new role. When employees feel invested in, they’re more engaged and perform better — two of the keys to creating a “high-performing” workplace.

As a manager of customer success at Hivebrite, Carmel Rooney enjoys the combination of Hivebrite’s growth-oriented culture as well as working alongside a diverse range of customers.

Built In NYC spoke with Rooney to learn about what makes Hivebrite an excellent place to grow a career.

If you could summarize Hivebrite’s culture in one mindset, what would that be?

Our company culture at Hivebrite is growth-oriented and firmly rooted in a growth mindset. We see challenges as opportunities for innovation, encourage continuous improvement and value success and failure as essential learning experiences. Everyone has a voice, and we are committed to empowering individuals to develop their skills and contribute meaningfully to our collective success.

Recently, our team has navigated contract naming changes and price adjustments, and we are now rolling out a new system for managing renewals and upsells. Throughout these transitions, our team has actively provided valuable feedback, which has been instrumental in refining and improving the rollout of this new tool.

Since you joined Hivebrite, what professional growth or development have you seen in that time?

I love learning about the diverse use cases, industries and verticals our customers represent. It’s been inspiring to discover the incredible work they’re doing. Last week, I had the privilege of attending the APA Convention in Seattle, where I helped promote their online community in an innovative way. Next week, I’m headed to Porto, Portugal, to support one of our long-time customers who has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize multiple years in a row.

In my five years at Hivebrite, I’ve grown professionally by adapting to the unique needs of each customer. Gaining an in-depth understanding of various organizations has helped me evolve into a leadership role and positioned me as a guide for others. Building relationships with our customers, their teams, and their member base has been a true joy, and along the way, I’ve significantly expanded my knowledge base.
