These 5 NYC Tech Companies Raised $1.1B+ in April

The New York tech scene consistently makes advances, and April proved to be no different. The past month saw funding rounds in all tech sectors, including blockchain, cybersecurity and biotech. But five companies stood above the rest and raised a combined $1.1 billion. Learn more about these companies and how they plan to reinvest their new capital.

#5. $88 million, April 8

Grow Therapy closed an $88 million Series C round led by Sequoia Capital in April. Grow Therapy is a telehealth platform that works with most major insurance companies. Unlike other platforms that match patients with providers, Grow Therapy’s platform allows users to find providers in its network who may be a match for them.

 

#4. $150 million, April 17

Ramp provides corporate cards and aims to build a financial ecosystem for businesses. In April, it closed a $150 million Series D-2 funding round co-led by Khosla Ventures and Founders Fund. Ramp will continue to build its ecosystem, which already provides several financial solutions, including vendor management, spend controls and expense management. 

 

#3. $225 million, April 9

Blockchain developer Monad Labs raised $225 million and wants to improve Ethereum, a decentralized network that processes blockchain transactions. With the new funding, Monad Labs is creating an Ethereum virtual machine to process more transactions. Paradigm led the latest funding round. 

 

#2. $290 million, April 18

Metsera develops oral and injectable incretin therapies for obesity and metabolic diseases. In April, the company officially launched and raised $290 million in a financing round led by ARCH Ventures Partners. With the new capital, Metsera aims to create a research and innovation cycle to treat obesity.  

 

#1. $300 million, April 9

Cyera, a data security company, raised $300 million at a $1.4 billion valuation last month. Its cloud-based platform provides security solutions for enterprises looking to protect their data as they develop AI tools. Coatue, a New York-based investment firm whose past investments include Airtable and Box, led Cyera’s Series C round.

This list highlights the five largest funding rounds raised in April by tech companies with a headquarters in New York. We only include venture capital and equity raises and do not include debt or post-IPO funding rounds in this list.
