Flatiron Health raises $175M Series C
Flatiron Health, the leader in cloud-based oncology software, announced a $175 million Series C funding round led by Roche. Participants in the round included Allen & Company, Baillie Gifford and Casdin Capital. Flatiron Health will use the new funding to further invest in its cloud-based OncologyCloud software platform, which includes OncoAnalytics, a first-of-its-kind advanced analytics tool, and OncoEMR, the industry-leading electronic health record for oncology with an integrated patient portal and claims system. New York startups exhibit at CES expo
CES, the annual Consumer Electronics Show, has taken over Las Vegas this week. A handful of New York startups made the trek over to Nevada, with wearable companies like Jewelbots, BioTrak Health and Bedphones exhibiting at the convention. Other New York companies present at the convention include BrainBit, Ghostery, Claim it!, HookLogic and InSensi. At-home spinning startup, Peloton, will be participating in the expo’s Fitness Tech Summit, and Brooklyn’s goTenna will let anyone without service at CES easily communicate. LinkNYC launches to replace thousands of pay phones with free Wi-Fi hot spots
This month, New York City will begin replacing thousands of pay phones with free Wi-Fi hot spots as part of the LinkNYC project. The city expects to have 500 hot spots installed by July, and eventually about 7,500 units will be replaced. The hot spots will sit atop a 9.5-foot tall box with electronic screens on each side to display advertising. Sandwiched between the sidewalk ads will be an Android tablet that can be used to place free phone calls and surf the Web. [MarketWatch]
Hometeam scores $27.5M Series B round
Hometeam is taking a new approach to senior home care by making it easier for families to locate and hire qualified caregivers. On Tuesday, Hometeam announced a $27.5 million Series B round. The latest funding round was led by Oak HC/FT, a leading venture-growth equity fund investing in Healthcare Services technology companies. Hometeam plans to use the funding to accelerate its medical and technology development as it continues to grow in New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia. [Built In New York]
