With the fresh cash from Tene Investment Fund, the online retailer plans to fund future expansion plans including a U.S.-based fulfillment center, furthered research and development as well as broadened customer service solutions. NYC is investing $38M in biotech. As part of an initiative to establish the city as a public health destination, city officials are planning to invest in applied R&D facilities at Columbia University, Montefiore-Einstein, the New York Stem Cell Foundation and Rockefeller University. K Health raised $132M. With its AI-based health platform, users can receive answers to their medical inquiries based on a database containing billions of health records. The Series E round for K Health was led by GGV Capital and Valor Equity Partners. Amazon opens another Bronx location. The e-commerce giant’s new delivery station is located at 1055 Bronx River Ave. and spans 205,000 square feet. The Soundview location creates 140 job openings for full- and part-time employees, as well as hundreds of driver opportunities. Amazon is also planning on opening yet another Bronx location at Hunts Point at 511 Barry Street. [Bronx Times]
