Dataiku and Constrafor raised $200 million and $100 million respectively in 2022, and neither company plans to sit on that cash in the new year. Each one has massive plans for 2023, and to execute on them they’re hiring for sales, marketing, customer success and other go-to-market roles.
What makes these companies unique is their focus on how business growth can serve as a springboard for employee growth. For example, Nick Trombetta, sales VP and general manager for the Americas at Dataiku, told Built In New York that the company’s growth necessitated an evolution of its sales organization that has opened up new advancement opportunities.
“We recently created regional franchises and will continue to build those teams out for the foreseeable future,” Trombetta said. “This opens up new leadership opportunities for AEs to aspire to and be competitive for VP roles.”
In addition to new leadership roles, big growth plans provide an opportunity to make a mark in the industry. That’s VP of Business Development Renaud Vasseur’s vision for the new salespeople at Constrafor, a SaaS platform offering procurement and financial solutions for the construction industry.
“From SDRs to AEs and customer success, there are plenty of opportunities within Constrafor to grow accounts or find new ones,” Vasseur said. “We need to expand into various venues and markets, and there’s plenty of work to do here and a lot of untapped potential.”
Dataiku offers a single platform for designing, deploying and managing artificial intelligence applications, with apps able to be written with code or developed in a no-code or low-code environment.
What are the biggest projects that are priorities for your team in 2023?
2023 will mark the 10-year anniversary of our company and we’re experiencing huge momentum right now. In 2022, we surpassed $150 million in annual recurring revenue and we just announced $200 million in Series F funding. As we cross the chasm of companies using AI from early adopters into the mainstream market, we are equipping our sales team to meet customers where they are at — in terms of AI maturity — and articulate how Dataiku’s platform and vision can transform some of the world’s largest organizations.
We’ll keep hiring in 2023. We are all hands on deck to ensure we’re creating a best-in-class onboarding experience for our account executives (AEs) to ensure they find success quickly. We also surround them with a world-class go-to-market organization and our amazing marketing, lead generation, solution engineering, partnerships and customer teams guarantee that our AEs have all the resources to be successful. In 2023, we are investing in biannual kickoff events to ensure continuous learning opportunities throughout the sales year.
The people we hire in our sales organization should be as passionate about the potential of data and AI as we are.”
Describe the career growth opportunities associated with these projects that await new hires.
There’s no better place to be than Dataiku in the technology industry right now. We have a massive addressable market, a strong product-market fit and a customer retention rate within the Forbes Global 2000 that stands at over 95 percent. Such growth brings so many career growth opportunities for our people!
As an example, we recently created regional franchises and will continue to build those teams out for the foreseeable future. This opens up new leadership opportunities for AEs to aspire to and be competitive for VP roles. We’re also promoting a lot of first-time managers and we help all our people leaders upskill with access to external coaches to problem-solve and create individualized growth plans.
What qualities and skill sets do you look for in a new addition to your team?
First and foremost, the people we hire in our sales organization should be as passionate about the potential of data and AI as we are. This is key for them to be able to engage our prospects and customers with their related initiatives and ultimately help them develop a more efficient approach through leveraging our platform. Our product is multifaceted and used by multiple personas and verticals, and our account executives need to convince C-levels at some of the world’s largest organizations to trust our solution. So we’re looking for experienced software sales professionals with a demonstrated performance track record of breaking into new logos. This role requires a mix of intellectual curiosity, drive and tenacity as well as strong listening and communication skills.
As our sales and overall company culture are very collaborative, we’re also looking for people who care about having an impact on our company in general and thrive when they feel like they belong to something bigger than themselves. They should be open to receiving and giving feedback and looking to grow from their interactions with their coworkers and to helping others grow, too.
General and specialty contractors use Constrafor’s SaaS platform to manage and sign contracts, order supplies and to process payments. The company’s big plans for 2023 are fueled by the more than $100 million in funding it raised last summer.
What are the biggest projects that are priorities for your team in 2023?
We are building a brand and a name for ourselves. We need to expand into various venues and markets, and there’s plenty of work to do here and a lot of untapped potential. We want to be a household name in this industry, and it requires us to be present on multiple fronts. There is so much to do and the potential is enormous. We need to expand the team as we get more logos and ensure we can serve them well. From SDRs to AEs and customer success, there are plenty of opportunities within Constrafor to grow accounts or find new ones. This year will be an exciting time.

Describe the career growth opportunities associated with these projects that await new hires.
It depends on the role you choose as growth is not limited to just one path. Your personal growth is essential to us and is linked not only to your success but to the company’s success. We all work as a team and help each other out so that we all grow together. We are a small team, and the sky is the limit. So as the company grows, there are tons of opportunities that will open up in the future. We promote from within and are looking for leaders.
What qualities and skill sets do you look for in a new addition to your team?
These are the principal traits that we are looking for at Constrafor: coachability, eagerness to learn, attitude over skills and the desire to go beyond what is required. We are all in the same boat, sailing toward a common goal.
