Virtual Reality is breaking into the global world of tennis for the first time.

Today, ATP Media, the broadcast arm of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) announced that the company will be collaborating with New York-based VR startup

We're on 18th street between 5th and 6th Avenue. Which means we're both easy to get to and around a lot of great food and drinks.
to produce the first tennis experience in virtual reality.

At the upcoming BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, ATP Media will provide a VR box suite that allows viewers to experience the tournament as if they were sitting courtside. The action will be livestreamed, using multiple camera positions to capture every serve, rally and point.

LiveLike is one of the world’s first platforms that lets your watch sporting events in virtual reality from multiple angles. As such, the company was recognized as an industry leader at TechCrunch’s 1st and Future startup competition, winning the grand prize of $50,000 from the NFL.

“Virtual Reality opens up so many possibilities for how people can consume live sports and lends itself perfectly to tournaments like the ATP World Tour Masters 1000s,” said LiveLike VR Chief Business Officer, Miheer Walavalkar in a statement. “ATP Media has been very receptive to our platform and have expressed a desire in being early adopters and we’re excited to be adding our expertise in bringing people even closer to the action.”

LiveLike already has set partnerships with several teams and tournaments, and is set to broadcast VR streams of dozens of upcoming sports events. We told you the company was up to some cool stuff.
