It's almost summer, which for college students means it's time to figure out what to do with three months off. 

If you're looking to get a taste of what it's like to work in New York City's tech scene, we've got you covered. 


Engineering Intern at DigitalOcean

What they do: DigitalOcean is a cloud-based Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) provider built for developers. The company allows dev teams to create, automate and manage infrastructure through APIs, floating IPs, shared private networking and team accounts.

What you’ll do: This is a 10-week paid internship program where you’ll be paired with a technical mentor and a team that matches your interests. You’ll spend the summer pushing code, building exciting applications, products and internal tools, as well as a summer-long project that will culminate with a final presentation.

What they’re looking for: DigitalOcean is looking for candidates that are excited to take part in reinventing cloud computing and IaaS, and who have excelled in computer and engineering classes. You will also need experience in systems language like Java, Javascript, C/C++, or Go, and scripting language like Python or Ruby.

 

Design Intern at BuzzFeed

What they do: Buzzfeed is one of the most widely recognized digital media brands in the world, bringing people news and features across mobile apps, Facebook, Snapchat, Youtube and other digital platforms.

What you’ll do: In this role, you will help create graphics for a wide variety of subjects, observe current design trends on social media and across the web, work with editors to come up with creative design solutions and assist the design team with the creation of headers, infographics, illustrations, type treatments and distributed content.

What they’re looking for: BuzzFeed is looking for candidates with a passion for design, a deep understanding of the internet and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

 

 

Consumer Insights Intern at Away

What they do: Away thinks that every traveler should have access to affordable, high-end luggage. The company makes state-of-the-art suitcases and keeps costs down by selling directly to consumers.

What you’ll do: In this position, you’ll be supporting the Away team across business analytics, customer insights and product research. You’ll be responsible for the full cycle of identifying data sources, analyzing data, generating insights and translating them into actionable initiatives.

What they’re looking for: They’re looking for a current junior or sophomore at a top university whose excited to work in a fast-paced environment. Candidates will have a strong work ethic, meticulous attention to detail and previous experience using analytics tools.

 

NYC Videography Intern at TodayTix

What they do: TodayTix makes it easy to find last-minute theater tickets to many sought-after shows in New York, from musicals to comedy and opera performances.

What you’ll do: You will support the TodayTix team on a number of fronts, including day-to-day clerical duties. You will also help assist with photo shoots and content creation.

What they’re looking for: They’re looking for a responsible, detail-oriented self-starter interested in videography. You’ll need strong writing and research skills in this position, as well as proficiency with Adobe Premiere, Avid, Final Cut Pro and After Effects.

 

 

Visual Design Intern at LearnVest

What they do: LearnVest is a personal finance platform that provides customized planning to help users manage debt, save money and retire comfortably.

What you’ll do: This position will provide you the opportunity to improve and bring to life new digital products and tools. In this role, you’ll be able to develop and hone your design craftsmanship, which includes working with a development team, building prototypes and learning about best practices for interactive design.

What they’re looking for: LearnVest is looking for a junior or senior undergrad or graduate student who is studying a design-related field.
