Fern, a company offering organizations API documentation and software development kits, announced a $9 million round of Series A funding. The investment was led by Bessemer Venture Partners and brings Fern’s total capital raised to $13 million.

The company helps more than 150 organizations power their developer and agent experiences. Through its SDK generator solution, Fern enables companies to automate the development and maintenance of SDKs in various coding languages, helping developers match the language their apps are built in. Fern’s Docs product lets companies build customizable documentation websites that match their brand.

As more businesses leverage AI agents, Fern is developing solutions for next-gen integrations. Fern is building a model context protocol server generator that will allow large language models, or LLMs, to request API information from several AI code editors. It is also developing automation solutions that will scan documentation for manually added code snippets and run performance tests.
