From cyberattacks to scalping Taylor Swift tickets, malicious bots can cause mayhem for companies and customers alike — and they are only getting smarter with help from artificial intelligence.

Cybersecurity company DataDome has developed a suite of solutions to fight back against bots, and it just raised $42 million to take that fight to the next level. The Series C round, which was announced Thursday, was led by InfraVia Growth and was joined by existing investors Elephant and ISAI.

Dual-headquartered in Paris and New York, DataDome currently employs 180 people. The company’s NYC office is located in SoHo.

To identify potential bots, DataDome assesses in real time the intent behind a user’s interactions with a website, mobile app or API. Powered by machine learning, its technology analyzes 3 trillion data points each day to adapt to new threats. The company’s cybersecurity solutions are used by notable clients like Rakuten, Reddit and AngelList, among others.

DataDome will use the fresh capital to grow its global sales, expand its research and scale its development efforts.

“Bots have become a common path to fraud. In 2022 alone, DataDome stopped, in real time, over 250 billion online fraud attempts,” DataDome co-founder and CEO Benjamin Fabre said in a statement. “Because of how our product is built and deployed, we have a unique lens into attack vectors and can see across silos to stop attacks in their tracks.”
