Archer, a dating app designed exclusively for gay men, launched its mobile platform to users across the nation on Wednesday. The announcement follows Archer’s initial launch in June within the NYC metro area.
Operating under the Match Group family of apps, Archer’s mobile platform aims to give gay, bisexual and queer men a space to safely express themselves and build communities with one another. The platform lets users build out their profiles with photos and information like their self-identity, hobbies and interests. It also comes with innate safety features like selfie verification as well as human moderation and AI technology.
Archer allows users to search for others based on tags, so whether someone is searching for a friend, a date or a relationship, they can connect with members who share similar interests, identifiers and more. Users can freely connect with each other through direct messages. While doing so, Archer ensures any nude imagery is sent consensually and automatically blurred, giving users the choice to reveal the photos or not.
To celebrate its app’s nationwide launch on National Coming Out Day, Archer is hosting an activation event in Washington Square Park on October 11 and hosting bar events across the country the same evening.
