When ordering from food delivery companies and even directly from a restaurant, most people have faced the unfortunate event of receiving a lukewarm or even cold meal. Wonder, a NYC-based food tech startup, is working to revolutionize the process of food delivery with its mobile restaurant delivery service.

On Tuesday, the company raised a $350 million Series B round, bringing its valuation to $3.5 billion, as reported by the Wall Street Journal.

The raise was led by Bain Capital Ventures and will be used to scale Wonder’s presence in the nearby tri-state area. The company currently operates in New Jersey. Wonder will also focus on launching 11 more restaurants, increasing its total offering to over 30 mobile restaurant chains by 2023.

Marc Lore, Wonder Group’s CEO and founder, fully stepped into his role as CEO just six months ago. Before that, the serial entrepreneur who sold his previous company, Jet.com, to Walmart for $3.3 billion in 2016 was leading Wonder alongside participating in other startup ventures.

Wonder is an exciting new approach to in-home dining that combines the convenience of delivery with the quality of the best dine-in restaurants,” Lore said in a statement. “It has a real opportunity not only to completely change how people eat, but also to create a better future by giving them access to the world’s best food — with nutritious options — in a convenient, affordable, and sustainable way.”

Since launching, Wonder has built 19 mobile restaurant chains and created 1,250 jobs in New Jersey alone. Wonder is currently hiring for nearly 100 roles, some of which can be found on its Built In company profile, including engineering and data analytics positions.

“It’s pretty special what you can accomplish with a big, bold vision, the best people and the capital to execute,” Lore said in a statement.
