Digital marketing startup Movable Ink announced Tuesday it raised a $30 million Series C round with investments from Contour Venture, Intel Capital and Silver Lake.
Founded in 2010, Movable Ink helps brands create custom visual content for emails and other digital communication with their customers. It also helps analyze data regarding things like inventory and customer behavior so companies can curate unique messaging that is specific to each customer. With a visuals-first approach, the goal is to produce email, mobile and web marketing content that is relevant to customers on a personal level, which is more important than ever as businesses try to stay afloat amid the pandemic.
“A lot has changed over a decade in digital marketing but never so fast and dramatically as what’s happened during the COVID-19 pandemic,” CEO Vivek Sharma said in a statement. “Brands across multiple industries have accelerated digital transformation initiatives, many of which have been in progress for years. We remain deeply committed to supporting our clients through this time and helping them enter and embrace a new digital future.”
The last time Movable Ink raised money was back in 2013, instead choosing to embrace the “philosophy of capital efficiency.” This fresh funding brings the company’s total capital raised to more than $42 million and will be used to invest in its “platform, partners and people.”
On the platform front, this means expanding into new channels, specifically mobile, which will allow for features like personalized messages and push notifications. The company is also continuing work on its Movable Ink Exchange, a marketplace of integrations with data partners that works with the larger Movable Ink platform to access data from a brand’s existing marketing tech investments.
Based out of NYC, Movable Ink counts brands like DSW, Dunkin’ and Delta among its customers. The company plans to expand in Europe beyond its current presence in the United Kingdom, and then into Australia and Japan, according to Crunchbase News.
All this growth means Movable Ink is hiring, with several open positions across its product, sales, marketing and client success departments.
