You first heard about Daily Harvest in June when the company announced its star-studded Series A funding round that included Serena Williams and Gwyneth Paltrow — and it’s making headlines once again. The superfood delivery service just announced it closed a $43 million Series B funding round and added more celebrities to its list of investors.
Bobby Flay, Shaun White and Haylie Duff, along with Lightspeed Venture Partners, VMG Partners and existing investors participated in the round, which will help the company expand to new markets. The funding will also propel product development, new farm partnerships and better customer experience.
"Our celebrity investors have come onboard because they believe in our mission of making nutrient-rich foods convenient and accessible. They each have unique perspective and authority in their specific industries, which have been and will continue to be incredibly valuable as we grow our business," said Rachel Drori, Founder and CEO.
Daily Harvest delivers pre-packaged smoothies, soups and bowls nationwide, and freezes unprocessed fruits and vegetables at peak ripeness. Each recipe is co-designed by a Michelin-trained chef and nutritionist and includes a range of superfoods and nutrients. Meals are delivered frozen, and customers can prepare them in a matter of minutes.
“Unlike the majority of meal kit services, we are entirely plant-based and use organic, unrefined, clean ingredients,” said Drori. “We want to make it easier for busy people to eat whole, nutrient-dense, fruits and vegetables — this is our promise of convenience without compromise.”
Daily Harvest was founded in 2015 and has more than 100,000 subscribers nationwide.
