Some of New York City’s fastest growing, innovative tech companies are kicking up their hiring efforts. Here are five tech companies on the hunt for new talent this month.
What they do: TransferWise allows people to send money virtually with real exchange rates. While banks apply huge charges for sending money abroad, TransferWise saves users up to 90 percent in hidden fees.
Coolest perks: 401(k), medical benefits, 23 days holiday and your birthday off, free team lunches on Fridays, international travel and one abroad company holiday per year, life insurance and parental leave.
Note from an insider: "We love people who are driven by solving real problems for customers, and put people at the heart of building an amazing product,” said Anna Roe, Recruitment Lead. “People that succeed here are smart, detail focused and willing to get their hands dirty.”
What they do: Force Therapeutics’ remote patient monitoring business provides physical therapy for people recovering from orthopedic procedures. The company educates, monitors and tracks patients through a clinically-proven digital platform, providing surgeon teams unprecedented insights into progress and performance outside the hospital.
Coolest perks: Team offsites and events, subsidized gym membership, commuter benefits, flexible vacation policy and health insurance.
Note from an insider: "Ideal team members are individuals who are solution-oriented and hold themselves accountable,” said Christine Kelly, Client Success and Strategy team member. “We're always ready to show up for each other to achieve success — because when one of us succeeds, we all succeed. We develop collaborative relationships with our stakeholders and are fulfilled by providing a technology that improves the lives of patients and workflows of providers. Candidates who share in these values fit well in the culture at Force!"

Note from an insider: "At Justworks, we look for three things in candidates: we look for smart, capable people that can roll up their sleeves and who exemplify one of our core values – grit,” said Jason Whitman, VP of Employee and Customer Success. “They also have to be humble because we work in teams, so they need to be able to collaborate. And of course they have to believe in our mission of making life easier and better for startups and their employees."

Note from an insider: "I believe in hiring to elevate, not to delegate,” said Kristo Ovaska, Smartly.io Founder and CEO. “I’ve noticed that when you hire people who are passionate about learning and challenging themselves, they solve almost all the problems on their own. All you have to do is to give them trust and all the data they need to make decisions, and make sure they are aligned with the company-wide vision."
