There’s too much going on in New York to waste half your weekends sitting in a laundromat. Most dry cleaners in the city offer a pick up and drop off remedy, but now there’s a gaggle of startups that allow you to schedule your laundry needs from your phone. We rounded up the top on-demand laundry apps in the city.
Cleanly
Following a $2.3 million funding round in May that included investment from NFL hall of fame quarterback Joe Montana,
expanded its services from Manhattan to Brooklyn over the summer. The iOS app allows you to schedule a pick up time for your laundry and a valet will pick up your dirty clothes at a specified time and return them clean within 24 hours. They also offer dry cleaning.
FlyCleaners
Like Cleanly,
partners with facilities around the city and picks up and delivers your laundry to and from your doorstep. It also offers wash and fold and dry cleaning options, and allows you to select your time and date. But FlyCleaners also has an immediate pickup option which promises to have a valet to you within 21 minutes. There’s also an overnight option where pickups taken before 11 p.m. will be delivered back spiffing clean by 7 a.m. the next morning.
WashClubNYC
With roots in Brooklyn,
serves a larger area of the borough than its competitors, as well as the entirety of Manhattan. CEO Rick Rome left his job as a Wall Street trader to set up the business, which is available in 12 cities nationwide. There’s also a commercial service for businesses like health clubs and medical offices. Unlike other apps, WashClub has a dedicated 10,000 square foot washing facility in Brooklyn.
Juliette
operates under the tagline "laundry has never been this sexy." We’re not really sure what this means, but I'm guessing it’s because this is an overnight service. It’s also an invite-only service, ensuring demand can be met. Laundry picked up before 10 p.m. will appear clean on your doorstep by 6 a.m. the next morning. The app serves Manhattan from the Financial District to Central Park North.
Clothespin
The
iOS and web app allows you to choose from a network of 400 cleaning facilities. It’s strictly a pickup and delivery service, only you don’t pay for the privilege. Clothespin guarantees you pay the same price as if you had dropped off the dirty laundry yourself. Customers leave reviews and ratings of each launderer to help you find the best option. Clothespin also offers a white label solution for cleaners who want their own app.Images via Facebook
