Job Description
Better supporting franchise and multi-entity businesses is a key part of Square's plans to move upmarket. To solve this need, Square has acquired GoParrot in May 2022, an all-in-one solution that allows franchisors to manage their franchisees with centralized reporting, loyalty and gift card orchestration, and menu management. This now makes up the Franchise Suite organization. It's an exciting time to join this organization as we are working to integrate the GoParrot solution more seamlessly into the Square ecosystem and expand our customer base beyond the food and drink industries!
We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Franchise Suite organization, reporting to the Head of Engineering, Product Server. Join us and help build Square's next generation platform for Food & Drink Franchises. In this role you will lead an organization of 35+ engineers and collaborate with other Engineering peers responsible for hundreds of engineers altogether to deliver a seamless multi-product experience. Additionally, you will work alongside Square's leadership team to support and shape Square's platform-powered ecosystem strategy. Our Engineering leader will be a passionate advocate for Food & Drink businesses, Square's purpose of economic empowerment, and their role in helping to understand and address Seller's struggles and needs.
Note: Most of the engineering team is located in Eastern Europe (Moldova) and ability to work Eastern Standard Time and manage remote teams will be required.
Technologies we use:
- Backend - NodeJS with NestJS and Typescript
- Fullstack - React web for dashboard, React native for native mobile app and Unit testing mocking
- Usage of MongoDB, Redis and RabbitMQ
Qualifications
You have:
- 8+ years relevant software development and systems design experience with hands-on engineering experience on large Backend systems
- 4+ years of experience as a Software Development Manager managing all levels; 2+ years managing managers
- Strong experience working on and operating business critical distributed systems infrastructure before coming into management
- Excellent communication skills and ability to manage stakeholders and partner relationships
- Experience building a team, defining its mission, and executing on its goals
- A track record of achieving business and product success in a deeply collaborative organization with a significant level of independence and accountability
Qualifications
You have:

- 4+ years of experience as a Software Development Manager managing all levels; 2+ years managing managers
