Description and Requirements
The Opportunity
As a Director of Product Marketing on the Group Benefits Employee Marketing team, you'll lead a team of marketing mavens responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive, end-to-end marketing communication strategies for our group insurance products (e.g., accident & health, dental insurance, disability insurance, ID protection). Your leadership and vision will help drive strong and profitable business growth, customer loyalty and retention within the U.S. group benefits business. You and your team will work with business partners and marketing teams across the organization (product, sales/distribution, digital servicing, customer experience, research & insights, brand, marketing operations and more) to strategize, test, build, launch and optimize each leg of the customer journey.
You'll find success here if you're a curious, innovative thinker who is comfortable challenging the status quo, rethinking current processes and enjoying developing solutions that will ensure a frictionless experience with our end customers. If you're someone who is strategic, analytical and results-oriented - and has strong leadership, operational and cross-collaboration skills - this may be the role for you. You also need to be passionate about developing a deep understanding of our customer and their needs and devising creative solutions to help them unlock the value of their benefits at every turn.
As a leader in the marketing organization, this role requires product, channel, digital and integrated marketing experience as well as familiarity/experience with Agile marketing principles. You'll also need to be comfortable straddling setting the strategic vision for your team while leading your own core projects and initiatives.
What You'll Do

  • Lead, develop and inspire a team of seasoned product marketing professionals (3-5 associates).
  • Gain significant exposure to, and become a subject matter expert on, our robust suite of group benefits products and services, including product features, benefits and opportunities.
  • Partner with product and distribution leaders to create marketing strategies and detailed tactical plans that align to business objectives and key results. Assist your team in the development of their marketing plans.
  • Leverage research, data and insights and become obsessed with identifying customers and their needs and wants. Devise ways to continually optimize their MetLife experience to delight customers at every stage of their benefits journey.
  • Brief and align with all marketing teams and agency partners to develop and build marketing concepts and storytelling assets to support multi-channel, multi-touch, integrated campaigns and communications.
  • Partner with customer experience and business leads to map end-to-end customer journeys, identify opportunity territories and prioritize solutions.
  • Work with cross-functional teams and lead Agile pods to define how and when work gets done. Escalate challenges and opportunities that can make teams run more efficiently.

What You'll Bring

  • 10+ years of relevant experience in product, integrated and channel-marketing roles
  • Demonstrated B2C and B2B2C marketing experience
  • A customer-first mindset and innovative/creative thinking
  • Strong collaboration, interpersonal and influencing skills
  • A collaborative, positive leadership style that cultivates and inspires a team
  • Experience leading Agile pods and cross-functional teams to drive business results
  • An insights-led approach to making marketing and business decisions
  • Excellent presentation and storytelling skills that apply to all audience levels (including C-suite)
  • Demonstrated project management expertise, attention to detail and a high degree of accountability
  • Expertise or familiarity with financial services/insurance

Key Relationships

  • Reports to: AVP, Product Marketing
  • Direct reports/team: N/A
  • Key stakeholders: Product Development/Management, Sales & Distribution, Employer Product Marketing, Global Brand & Marketing (Marketing Operations, Customer Experience, Global Brand, Activation)
