Overview

As a member of the engineering team, you will join us as an engineer, responsible for building and scaling our data pipelines and distributed data stores powering our platform. Your responsibilities include the design and development of a core data pipeline infrastructure, building out scalable APIs to interact with other systems, and interfacing with user-facing applications. You will be responsible to propose, develop and build tools and processes with the goal of building out high-quality datasets by applying sound software engineering principles and practices as applicable to data engineering. You will primarily be working on Apache Spark/DataLake/Airflow (in Python) and other cloud-based technologies. In addition to technical skills, we are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset who has experience working at startups. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment where you will have the opportunity to shape the direction of our product and make a significant impact on our business.

Responsibilities

• Build and Scale data pipelines in a distributed systems environment on the cloud (AWS)
• Design, build and maintain distributed data store with performance and scalability in mind
• Build frameworks and tooling that can be shared across engineering and data science teams
• Deploy and manage code on cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Google Cloud
• Work with distributed systems orchestration tools like Airflow
• Work with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform
• Implement data pipelines using Apache Spark/Databricks//backed by Delta Lakes
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, and understand business requirements to design and develop features to enhance user experience

Requirements

• Bachelors in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar field; a Master’s degree is a plus
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering/data engineering in a highly scalable, distributed systems environment
• 5+ years of experience in building production-quality code in Python or related languages. Java/Scala experience is a plus
• Experience in Apache Spark, Databricks or similar distributed processing systems
• Experience building large-scale data pipelines, monitoring, and testing tools
• Experience building robust scalable APIs to interface with other systems
• Prior experience in startups and an entrepreneurial mindset is required.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform or similar tools is a plus
