WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
We are looking for a Director, QA Software Engineering to lead our Quality Assurance capability across our suite of applications at Ampersand. The QA role plays an important part in our company's product development process. Our ideal candidate will immerse themselves in understanding our business and lead a team that will implement test automation best practices to ensure that our software meets our high standards. This candidate would work with Engineering and Product leads to align life cycle and roadmap and create test plans that will be executed during our standard release cycle. Leadership, collaborative problem solving, and quality product is essential.
HOW YOU'LL BE CONTRIBUTING:
- Lead and develop our Quality Assurance teams to implement modern testing practices
- Work with the Help Desk Team and Engineering team to implement monitoring and support service levels
- Review requirements, specifications and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
- Ensure the creation of detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and test cases that meets requirements and utilize automation wherever possible
- Estimate, prioritize, plan and coordinate testing activities with stakeholders
- Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open source tools
- Identify, record, document thoroughly and track bugs
- Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved
- Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet business needs
- Liaise with internal teams (e.g. developers and product managers) to identify system requirements
- Monitor debugging process results
- Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
- Enhance capabilities with new testing tools and stay abreast with testing strategies
- Experience with test UI/scripting frameworks such as Selenium, Browser Stack, Jasmine or Karma is a plus
WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE:
- BS degree in MIS related discipline (MIS, CS, Engineering) or related job experience
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Experience leading a team of QA Software Engineers and Managers
- Hands-on experience with automated testing tools
- Proven experience or exposure to software quality assurance
- Strong knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools and processes
- Experience in writing clear, concise and comprehensive test plans and test cases
- Hands-on experience with both white box and black box testing
- Solid knowledge of SQL and scripting
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development process

Salary Range Disclaimer
The base salary range below represents the low and high end of the Ampersand salary range for this position in the New York Metro Area. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, experience and performance
The range listed is just one component of Ampersand's total rewards package for employees. Other rewards may include discretionary annual bonuses and / or overtime, commission, etc., as well as competitive benefits including PTO, medical & dental & vision benefits, 401K with employer match, short & long-term disability, basic life insurance, tuition reimbursement, pre-tax commuter benefits & flexible spending accounts.
Salary Range Transparency
This role has a New York Metro Area base salary of $120,000 - $160,000 and discretionary annual bonus.
